The student should be physically fit and healthy. It is best to have a foundation of experience dealing with dogs either as an instructor, dog walker, dog daycare attendant, shelter personnel, or dog walker in order to get the most out of the course. Teaching or assisting classes, or have first-hand experience working with dogs and/or people in a training/behavior role on a professional or volunteer level is preferred. However, trainers that have other experience are also excellent candidates for this course. Students that enroll must have the ability to teach a dog basic commands including sit, down, come and walking on a loose leash. Individuals are also welcome if they have one or more of the following:
